We are Tommy and Brent. Thank you very much for viewing our profile and getting to know us. We can only imagine the feelings you are having as you consider making an adoption plan, and we greatly commend your bravery. We can assure you that we will provide a loving, stable home, and hope to get to know you better personally.
About Us
We both met in Peoria, IL through mutual close friends. Our friends introduced us to each other in high school because we had similar interests in Nursing. We have been together for 19 years and married for 4 years. We both attended and graduated from the same Nursing college in Peoria, and helped support each other through our education journey. Our marriage is built on a foundation of trust, open communication, and support.
Right from the start, we have been a strong couple navigating through life events successfully. Our marriage works well because we balance each other with our personalities and work as a team. Tommy is the planner of the two of us, and Brent is more laid back. For example, when we landscaped our front yard Tommy made everything happen with finding the plants we wanted, and Brent enjoyed getting in the dirt and planting everything!
We moved to Chicago in 2011 and love living here! We enjoy gardening, taking walks by Lake Michigan and around our neighborhood. We like trying out new diverse restaurants and are foodies at heart. We are always up for exploring the city and surrounding suburbs. Currently, we are both Nurses in the Chicago area in Evanston and Glenview at different hospitals in administrator roles.
About Tommy
I am from Central Illinois in Peoria. My father has recently retired and is excited to have grandchildren. My family is small, and I have a few cousins in the Chicago who we often get together with. My best friend has recently adopted a 1-year-old, and we love spending time with them on the weekends. We look forward to setting up playdates with them!
I pursued nursing, because I met an exceptional nurse in my teenage years who inspired me to help others as she did. I wanted to make the same impact on people that she did. I went on to become a Registered Nurse (RN) and received my Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate in Nursing. I started as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse in a Surgical Trauma ICU. After moving to Chicago, I worked as an ICU nurse and administrator. Currently, I am a part time teacher in a Nursing College in Chicago and also work as an administrator in the suburbs.
As a self-proclaimed foodie, my favorite food is Mediterranean! My favorite restaurant to go to in Andersonville is Rezas, and I hope to take our future child there to see if it becomes their favorite too! My mother immigrated from Turkey and the food reminds me of my childhood and how she always had food ready in the home. In my spare time you can find me playing outside with our dogs, Pepper and Bodie, or reading. I look forward to reading many nighttime books to our little one, and hope they learn to enjoy reading as much as I do. I am also an avid gardener and love hostas and landscaping!
About Brent
I am from a small town in Central Illinois by Peoria. I grew up on a farm that I helped my family run. Some of my great early childhood years I remember were at this farm with my family. My grandmother is an RN and my mother has worked in healthcare for 40 plus years. They both encouraged and supported me in pursuing a career as a nurse. I truly love Nursing and all of its challenges. I started my Nursing career as an ICU RN and now am leading an amazing team of Nurse Managers. I have received my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Nursing.
I have a small but mighty family that has been nothing but supportive. I enjoy being outdoors, playing with Pepper and Bodie, traveling, visiting my family, cooking, and gardening. Tommy and I love to do date night at Calo, which is Italian and another one of our favorite restaurants down the street from us. We try to go there once a month to have family time. Spending time together is so valuable because we can connect and bond as a couple. My favorite place to vacation is Key West. We have been there 3 times and love the warm weather. Becoming a parent has always been a dream of mine. I am excited to grow our family and make memories together.
Our Family
We have a very loving family that has been a huge support for us. We have Midwesterner values. We love going to visit our family and having them come visit us. Additionally, we have cousins that live in the Chicago land area that we visit together often. Our cousins all have younger children which we love to get together and spend time with.We can’t wait to expand our family, and bring a child into the supportive families we are blessed to have.
Our Home
We live in a two-story house in a diverse neighborhood in the city of Chicago. Our yard is fenced, and we have plenty of room for outdoor activities. The neighborhood we live in has many young families from all different ethnic backgrounds. We are a close nit neighborhood, constantly supporting each other. There are multiple parks around our home to walk to and enjoy.
We have two dogs named Pepper a Bodie. The dogs are both are super energetic Chihuahuas that love to play with others. Pepper and Bodie are sweet, loving, and friendly in nature. Their favorite activity is playing fetch in our backyard.
