Jason and Mike

Dear Expectant Parent(s),

We are Jason and Mike – thank you for viewing our profile and considering us to be your child’s adoptive parents. While we cannot begin to understand the difficult but courageous steps you have taken to get to this point, we know that they were made out of a sense of selflessness and love for your child. We promise to fill your child’s life with love, not only from us, but from our extended families, friends, and, we hope, you as well.

About Jason (written by Mike)

It didn’t take long for me to realize that Jason was someone I could spend the rest of my life with. In our first few dates, he had an easy confidence about him that made me feel safe and comfortable. And that hasn’t changed a bit over the nearly five years we have been together. Jason carries a sense of passion into everything he does, whether it be his work, brewing beer with his friends, or cooking up another new recipe for dinner. He has an amazing sense of adventure – always willing to go on another camping trip, or on a road trip to a new national park, or even just going to swing in the hammock at our local park. He is an incredible guy who loves his family and cares deeply about his friends. I remember we were at a family party not long after we started dating and I saw Jason playing with his younger cousins and I knew right away he would make an amazing father. I can’t wait for him to share his love, passion and sense of adventure with our child one day.

About Mike (written by Jason)

With Mike, I have found a partner who I can be completely at ease with.  Mike impresses me with his intense dedication to family, friends, and his job.  He has this drive and passion that allows him to complete things that I wouldn’t even contemplate; from Ironman races to marathons to baking four batches of bagels on a Monday night for coworkers the following morning.  He is the organized one in our relationship, and is incredibly good at keeping us on track and keeping my mind from wandering too far off the task at hand.  Our personalities complement each other well.  He is smart, funny, extremely generous, loves to travel and explore, and keeps me excited to try new things together.  He adores his nephews and watching him interact and play with them is such a joy and leaves me no doubt that he will be a fantastic, fun and superbly organized father.

About Us

We met in the fall of 2015 and struck up an immediate bond.  We quickly met each other’s friends and families and knew we had something special.  We moved in together about a year and a half later and in November of 2019 we tied the knot in front of nearly 200 of our friends and family.  We both love traveling, hiking, canoeing/kayaking, going to the beach, staying active, exploring our neighborhood and community and sitting around the fire in our backyard.

We live in Chicago in a diverse and vibrant neighborhood, and are within walking distance to a number of wonderful parks and several great schools.  We live on a quiet street with lots of families and young children.

Jason (33 years old) grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and has two younger siblings.  His parents and younger brother currently live in Chicago and his sister and brother-in-law live in the Dominican Republic.  Jason’s grandparents (including his Babi – “grandma” in Czech) live in the suburbs of Chicago and he has aunts, uncles and cousins scattered throughout the Midwest and West Coast.

Mike (35 years old) grew up in Chicago and has an older brother who is married with three children, and two younger sisters (one of whom is also married).  One sister resides in the suburbs, but his parents and other siblings continue to live in Chicago.  Mike has a very large extended family with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins that at last count stood at over 100 family members all in and around Chicago.

Our families and friends are the most important things in our lives and your child will have an amazing network of love and support.  We see our friends and families very frequently for family dinner nights, weekend hang-outs, holiday gatherings and special occasions.

On top of our awesome families, we have the best friends you could ask for – many of whom are starting families of their own, so your child will have lots of little friends to play with!

Our Hopes

We have many long-standing traditions with our family and friends such as holiday get togethers, summer trips to Door County, Wisconsin, family dinner nights and so many more – and we can’t wait to share in those one day with children of our own.  We also hope to start new traditions and go on new adventures as a family – traveling to new places, exploring new parks or communities and helping to show a world of opportunity to your child.  Our hope is to create a safe, happy home where your child can grow and experience all that life has to offer, and we promise to always love and support them in every way we know how.

In Closing

We understand that the journey you have been on may be difficult, but if you choose us, we promise to welcome your child into a home filled with immense love, laughter, adventure, and happiness.  We will also welcome you into our lives and establish a relationship of your comfort level.  Thank you for considering us for your child and helping to make our dream of having a family become a reality.
