James and Marty

Dear Birth Parent(s):

We want to thank you for taking the time to read our profile and for your consideration during this important time in your life. We can’t imagine what you are going through, but we hope the stories below give you a glimpse into who we are and help provide some comfort.

Our History

We met in the summer of 2014 in Milwaukee at a Lady Gaga concert (cliché? probably lol) at Summerfest. Standing in line near each other, we struck up a conversation, exchanged numbers, and the rest, as they say, is history. In 2015, James was offered a position at a new job located in the Boston area, so we packed up our lives and started on a new adventure. Living on the east coast together, where we did not know many people, we grew even closer. We explored as much of New England as possible, including frequent camping outings in the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont, trips to NYC to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and day trips to different coastal towns.

Each year around the 4th of July and Christmas, we would pack up our car and head out on the 18-hour road trip from Massachusetts to Wisconsin. We are both avid readers (a past time we are excited to share with our children), and we loved listening to different audiobooks on the long trip home. For all these trips, our puppy, Link, would ride in the backseat on his blanket; he was a great little traveler and such a trooper. He could always tell when we were getting close, as his excitement was palpable.

By 2016, we were ready to embark on the next big adventure in our lives, and we were married in August of that year. We continued to grow with each other over the next few years, and in 2019, we made the decision to move back to the Midwest where we bought a home close to our families to start a family of our own.

About James

James was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and grew up in the suburbs west of Milwaukee, where all of his family still lives. He has two younger sisters, one of which just had her first child in 2020, with another on the way in 2022. James has loved being an uncle and looks forward to his kids having cousins around the same age. He has fond memories growing up with his cousins, having come from a large extended family with 11 first cousins.

James went to college in Minnesota where he studied Biochemistry, Physiology, and Spanish. He currently works as a Project Manager at a healthcare company. In his free time, James loves to read, watch football, and play videogames. He collects books by his favorite authors, has way too many books and not enough shelf space, and definitely needs to stop buying new books (never!). He grew up with a love for animals, visiting the zoo as often as possible and working for a pet store in high school, and this love has never left him. To this day, his favorite Jeopardy categories are any related to animals or science.

About Marty

Marty grew up in a small farming town near Madison, Wisconsin. His family lives in WI and he knew he always wanted to return there to start a family of his own. His family enjoys each other’s company and spends many weekends together playing games, cooking meals, and watching his three nieces and one nephew grow up. These relationships make for a built-in support system that he cherishes. Holidays were always very important for Marty, and he always tries to make everyone feel the love in the season. He has a passion for acting that he pursued in college and took on as a successful career, including Corny Collins in the Smash Broadway hit musical “Hairspray.” Marty has traveled all over the United States with shows and lived off and on in New York for seven years. His hobbies include interior design and decorating, gardening, and hosting our families for brunches and dinners. Marty has a knack for relating to people, making him rather charismatic.

Our Home

There never seems to be a dull moment in our home. With the two of us and three pets, there is always a vibrant and dynamic energy. We mentioned our puppy Link, who is a hound mix and a cuddly ball of energy. We recently adopted a second puppy named Cloud, who is a big, white, fluffy, happy-go-lucky Great Pyrenees. He is great with kids, and James’ nephew loves petting him and playing with all that white fur. Our third family member is an Eclectus parrot named Elliott. He is a great talker and loves to bother us by saying “Alexa, turn off” when we are listening to music.

Marty loves to garden and to decorate our home, making a warm and cheerful environment in every season. We both love to cook and try new recipes from all over the world, utilizing vegetables from our garden during the summer months. We live in a fun and diverse neighborhood. Holidays such as Halloween and Christmas are especially fun, where all of the neighbors put great attention into festive decorations.
