Becky and Chris

Hello!

We are Becky and Chris, and we want to thank you for considering us as a possible family for your baby. It takes great strength and courage to consider an adoption plan, and we would be honored to provide a warm and loving home for your child.

Our Story

We are a young, energetic couple (35) and have been happily married for 12 years. We became high school sweethearts at age 17, and have been together for over half of our lives! We got married shortly after college and moved to San Francisco, where Chris attended graduate school and Becky taught first grade. We recently moved back to the Midwest in order to be closer to our families and to begin to grow our family. After struggling through the heartbreak of infertility, we are so excited to adopt and can’t wait to welcome a little one into our hearts.

About Becky

I grew up in a small, close-knit family in Ohio and attended college at nearby Miami University. I have a degree in early childhood education, and have taught both kindergarten and first grade. I have a passion for reading, and love to collect children’s books and read them to my students. Every year I dress up as The Cat in The Hat to celebrate Dr Seuss’s birthday. I’m beyond excited to teach our child how to read! I love going to the ballet, opera, and symphony. I also love taking walks, and enjoy our quiet neighborhood, the Chicago Botanic gardens, and anywhere that we travel. I can’t wait to have a tiny companion on my walks.

Chris’s favorite things about Becky: “Her kindness and patience, her ability to make me laugh, and her willingness to try new things. She has moved cross-country (twice!), learned to ski, zip-lined down a mountain, and tried many different types of exotic foods, mostly just because I asked her to trust me. She will be a great mom because she has such a big heart.”

About Chris

I grew up in a large and lively family in Ohio and went to college in South Carolina at Clemson University. I also attended the University of California San Francisco where I conducted cancer research and earned a PhD in Biochemistry. Today I work for a large pharmaceutical company and work with other scientists and doctors to help bring new life-saving medicines to patients. My favorite room in our home is the kitchen, where I enjoy experimenting with new recipes (once a scientist, always a scientist!) and cooking meals to share with family and friends. I’m equally comfortable in a football stadium with 80,000 other fans as I am in a small concert hall listening to music. I’m slowly learning to appreciate tinkering in the yard, although I admit I’m not very good at it yet.

Becky’s favorite things about Chris: “He is very thoughtful. He can talk to anyone on any topic – whether it is complicated science, baseball stats, old movies, or pop culture. He makes me laugh and is always finding something fun for us to do. We make a great team. With him, I feel safe and loved, and I know our child will too!”

Things We Love to Do Together

We love the outdoors: hiking, skiing, spending time in our backyard garden, and attending concerts in the park. We also love art and culture. Living close to Chicago means frequent trips to the city to visit museums and attend music performances. We enjoy watching sports and rooting for our favorite teams: the Clemson Tigers, the Cincinnati Bengals, and the New York Mets. We love to travel, and to experience different cultures. We’ve been to Central and South America and Europe. We can’t wait to share the things we love with our child, and to help them develop and nurture their own interests.

Our Family

Family is very important to us, and we love spending time with them. Becky has two younger brothers and this summer we all traveled together as a family to celebrate her parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. Chris has one brother and four sisters, all younger, and they all enjoy coming to visit us. All of our siblings and parents are very excited to become loving aunts and uncles, and adoring, first-time grandparents! Your child will be blessed with such a fun and loving family.

We have also been fortunate to have developed many important and life-long friendships, and remain close with college and San Francisco friends. There are so many wonderful people in our lives who are looking forward to welcoming our child with love and laughter.

Our Home and Community

We live in a Northern suburb of Chicago, on a quiet cul-de-sac in a neighborhood filled with trees and flowers, where there are always children playing. Our immediate neighbors all have young children eager to play! Our street is constantly filled with the happy sounds of children laughing, driveway basketball games, and parents playing catch with their children. There is a park only a 5-minute walk away, with a playground where children happily play together. We own a four-bedroom home, and when we first looked at the house we knew exactly which room would be the nursery and could immediately envision reading bedtime stories, cooking family dinners together, and playing outside in the backyard. It’s a wonderful place to raise a family!

Growing up With Us

We promise that your child will grow up in a happy home filled with love. Education is very important to us, and we look forward to reading with your child and helping with homework. We also love to spend time cooking in the kitchen and eating dinner together. We are eager to share those fun times. Whatever the child’s interests, we will love and support him/her unconditionally. It is also important to us that your child always knows that you love he/she very much.
