Maria and Leo

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for viewing our profile and taking a moment to learn a little about who we are. We can only imagine what you are going through, and we commend your bravery and selflessness to consider adoption. We are blessed with the opportunity to provide love, support, and compassion to you and your child as we are looking to start our family.

About Us

Our story began when we met in 2018 as we were brought together by close relatives that knew both of us well. They knew that we were perfect for each other- and it was true! We even attended the same university at the same time only to meet and be together later in life. We spent lots of time getting to know each other, exploring the city, taking cooking classes together, and meeting each other’s friends and family. In July 2019, we were married and bought our beautiful home together in Chicago where we reside today.
We have cherished many memories already- traveling to New York, San Diego, and through France and Spain. We are involved with our local Church helping with food drives and donations; and enjoy our parish community. We have always wanted to have children and create a loving family. We are unable to have children on our own and have struggled with infertility. We decided after careful thought and consideration that adoption was the right path for us.

Meet Maria

I was raised in Chicago and grew up enjoying the city with the beautiful architecture and museums around me. I describe myself as creative and passionate in what I do whether it is teaching children in school or baking at home. I am currently a preschool teacher of 18 years in the public school system and before that I worked at a daycare center taking care of infants and toddlers. It brings me great joy helping others learn and see their strengths to be the best that they can be. When I am away from the classroom, I enjoy traveling abroad, going to plays and musicals, and cooking and baking at home. Spending time with family and Leo is also important and something very special to me.

The teacher in me always keeps myself organized and I love creative projects and decorating. If I am not baking or trying a new recipe, I am decorating around the house or planning new travels!

I am very close with my family and share a special bond with my sister as we have done so much together. We also have a unique connection as we both experienced infertility and have looked to adoption to start our families. My sister recently adopted twin boys from overseas. It would be wonderful to have our child grow up with cousins whom they could relate to.

Meet Leo

I was raised in the north suburbs of Chicago. I describe myself as devoted to my wife and family and outgoing as I work as a Doctor of Physical Therapy helping others get better. I enjoy problem-solving and helping people return to sports or work after an injury or physical disability. I love drawing and art when I am not in the clinic, as well as collecting comics and vintage things. I started drawing at a young age and it is something that has stuck with me. Visiting galleries and art shows of friends in the summer is a lot of fun. I enjoy traveling with Maria and spending time with family and our nephews who are twins (adopted from Bulgaria), as I am a twin myself! I enjoy new experiences and love exploring what life has to offer.

Whenever I have a chance, I enjoy the outdoors, taking walks with Maria, visiting local festivals, and getting the grill fired up in the backyard until the weather gets cold!

Our Home and Community

We live on the north side of Chicago bordering the suburbs and have access to multiple parks, bike trails, and local schools. Several public libraries are nearby that offer programs and classes for children. We are close to all of what the city has to offer from museums, cultural centers, and arts and educational programs. Our home is warm and inviting and we would love nothing more than to raise a family in it. We love to have family and friends over for the holidays and we most enjoy hosting Christmas every year and barbecues in the summer. Our community is home to many growing families with children, that include several neighbors on our block. Friends and family often come together for block parties, parades, and fun community events. There is a warm, close-knit feel to our neighborhood that we love very much.

Family and Values

We both grew up in families surrounded by siblings and cousins and we enjoyed a childhood full of fun-filled memories, laughter, and experiences. We grew up very close to our siblings and families and can remember so many great times. Birthday parties, holidays, and celebrations were a chance to cherish family and friends- and they still are for us. Both of our parents immigrated to this country to provide a better life for us and taught us the meaning of hard work, persistence, and the joys of life and what it means to be called a family. Our extended family lives within minutes of us, to provide support and a helping hand if needed.

From a very young age our parents have instilled several important values in us- kindness, respect, compassion, and honesty with others. The relationship that we have with each other as husband and wife, and our family, is founded on these very values and made us who we are today. With our work and with our interactions with people, we strive to lead by example and live a life of significance and service. We hope to provide the best example for our future child/ren and share the values that we know and cherish.

Our whole family is very excited to welcome a new baby- Leo’s parents are looking forward to becoming grandparents for the first time and Maria’s parents will be very happy to have another grandchild to love and cherish. There will be plenty of love to go around from everyone in the family!

Our promise

Our promise to you is to unconditionally love, cherish, and celebrate your child/ren and help them lead their best life. We are committed to building a family based on the values and background instilled in us- that includes respect, compassion, and honesty. We wish to give every opportunity to your child so that they may be happy and healthy. Our hearts are foremost grateful to you, as you are giving us a special gift to start a family that we are very hopeful for. We thank you very much for your consideration of us and our adoption journey.
