We are Amy and Kyle, and we appreciate you taking the time to read about our family. We cannot begin to understand what you are going through, but we know that it takes a strong mother to consider adoption for their baby. We hope you feel supported and cared for throughout this process. We will always treat this relationship with respect and promise to always do what is best for your child.

We look forward to sharing our story with you.

Dear Expectant Mother,

We are Amy and Kyle, and we appreciate you taking the time to read about our family. We cannot begin to understand what you are going through, but we know that it takes a strong mother to consider adoption for their baby. We hope you feel supported and cared for throughout this process. We will always treat this relationship with respect and promise to always do what is best for your child.

We look forward to sharing our story with you.

Meet Us:

We met in Chicago in 2015 and haven’t been apart since. On our first date, we talked about our shared favorite television show, bands, and notably argued about which grocery store was the best. After we separated for the night, we coincidentally ended up at the same place for different birthday parties and got to continue our date.

Having so much in common and building a foundation of trust early in our relationship, our time together has felt effortless. In the spring of 2016, we decided to move in together and in October of 2017, Kyle proposed at the place we had our first date. We were married a little over a year later in November of 2018 and in 2020 we bought our first home together in Jefferson Park. After a few months of trying to conceive, we learned that due to medical complications, having a biological child was not possible. After taking time to process and grieve, we decided that adoption was the right path for us.

Throughout our relationship, we have traveled to Florida, New Orleans, Washington DC, Charleston, New York, Portugal, Mexico, and Italy. Although we love traveling, our favorite activity is spending time exploring Chicago. We love going to street festivals, walking the lakefront, attending concerts, and finding new spots to grab dinner. We also have a shared love of karaoke, despite both being terrible singers. As cliche as it is, we are best friends. We make each other laugh constantly (but argue over who is funnier) and just enjoy being around each other no matter what we are doing.

Meet Amy:

I am 32 years old and grew up in Norwood Park on the Northwest side of Chicago. I attended Indiana University and then moved to New Orleans, Louisiana to study social work. I currently work as a school social worker in the city. Being a social worker is an important part of my identity and I am grateful that I get to do the work I do.

I spend a lot of time with my family, especially my siblings who live about 1 mile away. My brother, Matt, and his wife, Therese, have two kids, Molly (11) and MJ (7). Molly is the sweetest girl, with a love of baking. MJ loves sports and making us laugh. My sister, Lauren, and her husband, Bobby, have one daughter, Jolie (5). Jolie loves singing, dancing, and playing with her cousins. My parents are close by and enjoy being amazing grandparents in their retirement. I have a large extended family and enjoy getting together for birthdays and holidays.

In my free time, I love being with my nieces and nephew and having epic auntie days. I enjoy exploring the city, live music, theater, and playing all types of trivia. I love traveling and am passionate about social justice issues. My friends and family would say that I am funny and the voice of reason in the group.

Meet Kyle:

I am 32 years old and grew up in Glen Ellyn, IL. I attended Illinois State University, where I received a degree in marketing. I currently work in billboard advertising. I have one younger sister, Maria. We get to spend a lot of time together with her living so close to us. My dad is a photographer for a news channel who loves capturing all our special moments. My mom is a special education classroom aide. She is a master gardener, who enjoys teaching us how to tend our new yard. Our child would be my parent’s first grandchild and they are absolutely thrilled for this chapter in our lives.

Although Amy has turned me into a tried-and-true city boy, I love going back to Glen Ellyn and visiting with my parents. My favorite day of the year is the 4th of July. Glen Ellyn starts the day with the annual parade, followed by a block party and fireworks. Thanksgiving will always have a special place in my heart where we always head back to Glen Ellyn for my annual Turkey Bowl. When Amy and I started dating, her eagerness to join in on my traditions was one of my favorite things about her. I am now eager to share these memories with our expanding family.

Like Amy, I like catching up on the newest tv show or movie. I love superhero movies and comic books. I also have a passion for sports, whether it be playing golf or tennis, or watching football or golf. I can’t wait to teach our future child about them. Amy and I are both very close to our friends and family. We seek out any opportunity to gather, whether it is celebrating at weddings or exploring new spots in Chicago.

Our Home and Community:

We currently live in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of Chicago, located about 20 minutes from downtown. This was important to us as we love exploring the city and want to share that with our future child. We are 3 blocks from a park and the local elementary school. We are close to a beautiful forest preserve that we walk or run through regularly. Our street throws a block party at the end of the summer, which has quickly become one of our favorite traditions. With all that being said, the absolute best part of our home is the proximity to our nieces and nephew.

We are so lucky to have close family and friends to help us learn about being parents and provide support wherever needed. We truly have a village and are hopeful we can share that with a baby and their birth family.
