Dear Expectant Mother,
We are Lauren (32) and Graham (32), and we are incredibly excited to expand our family as first-time parents. We wholly adore and appreciate the courage and love you are demonstrating in making the selfless decision to find an adoptive family for your baby. We know that you want the absolute best for your baby and we would be honored if you would consider us as you continue your adoption journey. A child that grows up in our home will be showered in love, laughter, knowledge, empowerment, and encouragement – and lots of snuggles from our little dog, Penny.
About Lauren & Graham
High school sweethearts, we met our freshman year. Though we met when we were just kids, we have grown into the perfect team of loving, devoted, and goofy best friends, becoming each other’s greatest cheerleader and complementing each other’s unique traits and interests. After graduating from college, we lived in France together for a year where we got engaged and also got the itch to explore the world.
Married in July 2011 surrounded by our loving family and friends, we have since had the blessing to travel to Germany, Iceland, Peru, Sweden, Spain, Italy, Finland and many other countries around the world and make it a point to seek out new cultures, languages, and food every year. Today, we enjoy hanging out with our cute little 11-year-old dog named Penny (who would love a playmate!), spending time with friends & family, and eagerly await growing our family and the opportunity to shower a baby with love.
Born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, I have one older brother, who lives nearby with his wife, and one younger brother, who lives near Orlando, Florida, with his wife. My mom, who is one of the most loving and kindest people on the planet – someone who cannot wait to be a grandma – lives nearby with her tiny dog. Both of my brothers and my mom love their dogs as much as we do, and we try to get all of them together once in a while for puppy play dates. My dad and stepmom live in Florida, near my brother, sister-in-law, aunt, and uncle. We try to visit as often as we can – a nice place for family vacations!
After college, Graham and I lived in Europe together while I taught English to French students. It was an amazing experience and we met so many people we still call friends today, including several who even flew here to attend our wedding! I then attended law school – graduating in 2013 – and now work as an attorney for a bank in Chicago.
I absolutely love to travel, something I grew passionate about when I first went to Europe in high school on a class trip. In college I had the opportunity to study abroad in France where I lived with a French family for a semester.
Studying international business and French in college, my first love is for France, of course, but Graham and I have since explored a lot of Europe and North America together, opening our eyes to so many different cultures and traditions, and enriching our lives. This is something we hope to share with our kids. I also love spending time with family and friends, and I regularly run in fun 5k races with them, something I find good for both body and soul.
I was also born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. I have an older brother, who lives in Minneapolis with his wife and their 4-year-old daughter. My parents don’t live too far away from us and cannot wait to meet and love our future baby. We regularly get together as a family for holidays, birthdays, and just to have fun. Even better, Lauren’s family and my own have become very, very close and we often celebrate together!
While in France with Lauren, I worked in marketing, as a journalist, and in recording studios. Today, I am the marketing director for a national real estate company.
Passionate for all kinds of music (thanks Mom and Dad), I’m a musician and recording engineer who has been playing various instruments since I was a kid. In college, my band was signed to a small record label in California and released a few albums.
Today, I still write and record a lot of music – and work on others’ music, too – and our basement has turned into a legitimate “studio” where I hope to share my love for music with our kids. I am also a huge outdoor nut and regularly go camping and hiking with friends and family, usually to our farm property in Upper Peninsula Michigan. I cannot wait to share that passion with our kids and see their faces as they gaze upon a clear Michigan night sky full of stars for the first time.
Penny is our 11-year-old miniature pinscher who we rescued at only a few months old. She “picked” Lauren out at the dog shelter and the love was mutual. She’s great with kids and loves to snuggle, burrow under blankets, and “protect” the house from the mailman. A couple of years ago, Penny endured months of physical therapy in response to a neck problem that made her semi-paralyzed. Today, she’s fully recovered and is as agile as ever!
Our Home & Community
We live in a western suburb of Chicago, where we have a cute old house with a nice fenced yard in a wonderful neighborhood with plenty of other young families. Kids are regularly playing outside or on their bikes around the neighborhood. Just a block away from an elementary school, we are also walking distance from our area’s amazing downtown full of restaurants, a movie theater, the train station, and a few ice cream shops (we LOVE going for ice cream dates).
Thank you for taking the time to read our profile. We are thrilled to be able to introduce ourselves to you and respect your courage for considering adoption.
With love and support,
Lauren & Graham
