Dear Expectant Mother,
Hello, we are Jordan, Shannon and Jax. Thank you for checking out our profile and taking the time to read our letter. We truly respect your incredible strength for considering adoption and admire the love you have for your child. We would be absolutely thrilled to be chosen as adoptive parents and would love to tell you about us, our family, and the kind of life we can offer your child. We know you are making this selfless decision out of the incredible love you have for your child, and if chosen, we would make sure that your child grows up knowing that too.
We are sure you have a ton of questions that one profile can’t possibly cover, so hopefully you will want to get to know us so you will see for yourself just how cherished and loved your child will be.
We are in our mid-30's and have known each other for over 15 years and have been married for 9 years. Our marriage is built on love, friendship and shared beliefs. We also both absolutely adore being parents to our 4 year old son Jax, and our strong desire to have more children has lead us to adoption. We struggled with infertility trying to give Jax a brother or sister, but instead of turning to infertility procedures and treatments, we turned to adoption. We believe it is our path, our calling even, and we are looking for someone (maybe you?) who would want to be a part of this journey with us.
As a family, we are fun, easy-going and most importantly loving. We enjoy doing many activities outdoors, such as fishing, boating, swimming, hiking on trails and growing fruits and vegetables in our garden. We also love going to the beach and checking out local festivals and events in our community. Throughout the changing seasons we also like to pick pumpkins, go apple picking and cut down a fresh Christmas Tree in Minnesota with Jordan’s family.
Jordan’s parents, his 2 brothers, sister-in-law and niece all live in Minneapolis and his sister and brother-in-law, who are expecting their first child in December, live in Rapid City. We enjoy taking road trips to visit them several times a year. Shannon’s parents and brother, a Chicago Fireman, all live in the same two-flat where Shannon was born and raised. Shannon has a large family in the Chicagoland area, including 2 Grandmothers, over 20 aunts and uncles, and nearly 30 first cousins. Our families are on the larger side, and we are very close to them and see them often. All of our family members are excited about our upcoming adoption and will welcome your child with love and open arms.
ABOUT JORDAN (from Shannon)
Jordan is a very thoughtful and caring husband, and a terrific father. Watching Jordan teach our son Jax how to use tools and fix things around the house gives me the greatest joy. He is so patient and attentive to Jax and Jax loves helping him, (although he may only be in it for the ice cream treat after the work is done).
Jordan has owned his own plumbing/ contracting company for over 10 years, and before that he built houses for Habitat for Humanity. He is a very talented builder and has brought many of my crazy Pinterest ideas for our home to life. On top of all that, Jordan is a super talented songwriter and musician. He can play almost any instrument but his favorite is his guitar. He is always willing to take song requests from the kids like “The Wheels on the Bus,” and sing it with them around a campfire.
ABOUT SHANNON (from Jordan)
Shannon is the best mother a husband could dream of. She loves every minute of being a mother, whether it’s changing diapers, cheering on Jax at soccer practice, to playing games, to making sure everyone has everything they need and more. She works very hard at her job as a marketing Project Director and is a fantastic home maker and the light of our lives.
Shannon is also a great athlete and enjoys the outdoors. She has been known to play pick up one-on-one basketball games with our neighbor’s 18 year old son and schools him every time. She also enjoys doing 5k runs in our local neighborhoods while pushing Jax in the jogging stroller.
She is energetic, loving and positive. Even when life is not easy she finds a way to look on the bright side and ensure that no matter what Jax and I feel loved and cared for. Shannon is very excited about bringing another child into our family.
ABOUT JAX (from Mom and Dad)
Hi, I’m Jax and I’m 4 years old. I love to dress up as all kinds of super heros. I also love riding my bike really fast on trails by my house so my mommy has to sprint to catch up with me. In the summer, fishing, swimming and making s’mores are some of my favorite things to do. In the winter, I like to build snowmen, go sledding and help my Daddy collect firewood. I am so excited about becoming a big brother and can’t wait to help my mom and dad take care of a baby.
We live in single family home in a rural/suburban neighborhood in Northern Illinois near many lakes, parks and trails. We are actually walking distance to a park and a beach. Our house is on an acre lot so we have a huge backyard for the kids to-run-around, and a really fun Play Set that Jordan built. Our neighborhood is very safe and the schools in our district are among the highest ranked in Illinois. It’s a wonderful community to raise our children.
Our promise is to love and cherish your child every second of every day. This is our foundation and the single most important thing we can offer for you and your child. We promise that we will do everything to love, support, care for, teach, nurture, and create a happy life for your child. We promise to maintain contact with you and to do everything in our power to be the kind of parents that you’re dreaming of for this baby.
We’d love to speak with you, meet you and get to know you, too. We are eager to be part of an open -adoption if that works for you. Thank you for taking the time to learn about us.
With Sincere Admiration,
Shannon, Jordan and Jax
